Default Identifying a rose

Is it acceptable to posta picture of a rose in my garden here in the hope
that someone may be able to put a name to it?

Nope, but thanks for asking first. Post to
one of the binaries groups, like
alt.binaries.pictures.gardens
and then post the subject header here (use something
unique, not "my rose", so your photo is easy to
find), or post your photo(s) to a web site and post the
link here.

Alternatively (or in addition), you can do some
searching yourself at one of the web sites that
has a good database of roses, like
www.helpmefind.com

I would personally try both. Few roses are so unique
that they're easy to id from a photo, but it's worth a
try.
