Default How, and when, do you prune Bramleys?

As bramleys are a tip bearing apple, how the devil do you prune it?

Every pruning cuts of a tip, so you have destroyed the ability of the tree
to produce apples.

Remove dead, diseased and overcrowded wood, then
cut back some leaders, leaaving alone all laterals with
fruit buds at their tips.

This is the advice given in the 'Fruit Expert' by D.G.Hessayon.

Andy.
