Default Hyacinth

I hope I may ask for help on this one, although it's not strictly gardening.
I've started off a hyacinth bulb growing over water for my daughter. It has
now developed some roots and the top is growing. The problem is that there
are three small shoots growing almost from the base of the bulb (at about
seven o'clock). Should I break off these shoots before they get any bigger,
please?

Thank you

Daphne
