Ivy Warning
Hi All,
Just had to replace my flat garage roof rain was pouring in because of the roots of the ivy had gone through the roof felt and boards allowing water to seep through. Total bill for this was £1200. Moral of this is think about where you place your plants. Neil |

Ivy Warning
Dear neil, sorry to hear about your roof. These climbers can slowly
destroy a building. My experience is similar to yours, except the building didn't belong to me. It was a russian vine, its job was to screen a wood shed from the house. It did that all right, but with out maintenannce this thing had smothered the shed and had started the shed to lean. The plant is so quick to get going. is your Ivy root still left in? My I suggest that if it is to try and dig it out carefully and treat it with a branded weed killer in a concentrate form. Hope that helps. |

I had the same problem with Ivy growing on the front of the house, when I moved in, obviously it had been growing there for years, It did damaged to the window frame, and brick work, even left its root markings on the wall, which took ages to remove.
It may not be an expensive plant to buy, but its expensive to keep one |
