Default spuds in dustbins -

Hi - I've been reading the topics about growing spuds in containers,
specifically dustbins. One thing I'm wondering about is the lack of
sunlight. The first layer of earth, and the spuds, go in at the bottom
so would this not mean that the spuds would be in the shade most of the
time. Does this matter? If not, does this mean I can grow spuds in the
ground by a north facing wall that gets little sunshine ?

Thanks in advance,
Kevin.
