66% AB social-demographic profile
Average household income of visitors is £44,696
75% of visitors are currently working on/developing their gardens
78% of visitors come to the show to find new ideas
46% of visitors do not visit any other gardening show

Based on a sample of how many?

Average household income of visitors is £44,696

I suppose that if a BBC garden is visited by Alan Titchmarsh, Diarmuid
Gavin and HRH Charlie Boy it would push up the average family income

122,000 visitors in total! but you just cant include your list of celebs because do you really think they would give a straight answer if you were to ask them how much they earn?

Glad you read my ad!

I bet they didn't survey everyone.

I bet they didn't survey everyone.

No need to if all you want to find out is the general characteristics of
a 'population' (in this case the population is made up of those who
visit the show).

If you pick a sample of two, say, and find the average income is
£40,000, then picking a third person and finding their income is £10,000
severely affects your calculated average.

But if you've calculated your average of £40,000 on a sample of 500, the
fact that number 501 comes along with an income of only £10,000 isn't
going to make a lot of difference.

What I'm puzzled about is why we should be interested in the
characteristics of the visitors to the show in the context of some guy
trying to flog a garden that he hasn't yet built.

I expect he's trying to attract commercial sponsors who'd be looking to
use the connection as advertising. Would have thought you'd need to
approach suitable companies direct really.

And it's important to those folk to know the characteristics of the
people who viewed their purchase while it was still in the 'shop
window'?

Right.
