Default summer bulbs

Will summer bulbs do well on a north-facing wall? The daffs are quite
happy but do summer ones need light or just a decent ambient air
temperature?

Speaking of the daffs, why do they all face the same way when they
never get the sun? Have they been discussing it all winter?

My guess is that Gladioli will do well in the first year but not build up
enough energy to thrive over many years but that dahlias would not perform
well there at all.
