Hi, I am new here, so I don't know if this is the right place to post this.

Around three months ago, we planted a Cordyline Australis plant, a Phoenix Canariensis, and a conifer. There is also a Laurel Bay tree that has been there for at least 13 years. After we planted them, and put gravel and weed cover around the plants. A gap was left around the weed cover for the plants to grow.

They have all grown, including a large flower plant (next to the Phoenix) that will die after it has flowered.

The Cordyline has grown quite a lot, but the leaves are not a nice bright green like many other ones I have seen, they are more of a light green with a yellowish tint to them. The leaves, especially the new ones are all "limp". They seem to bend, and are all torn and "straggly" looking. We have three red ones, one in a pot, and they are all growing fine.

PS. we also had an old Phoenix in a pot, and we planted it as it was all white and dead on some of the leaves. There was some old bits of slab under the ground, so we mounded it up slightly. Many of the old leaves were cut off (the others were trimmed years ago). Does anyone have any advice?

It looks as though you may be being visited by slugs or snails that are eating the leaves and putting the plant under stress. Try a derris dust or some other slug killer. soapy water is also good fro detering slugs and snails
