Default New with questions! Trees and veg

Hello there

I'm quite new to gardening and I could use with a place to come to for advice so I joined here, I've done a couple of searches but not found my answers, hence this thread.

My bf is very interested in planting an apple tree, except they're to be planted in november-ish? Does it really make that much of a difference, I mean, what if you were moving house in May and wanted to take your tree with you?

Or can you recommend another tree that would be good on fairly dry soil which slopes a bit but gets sun in morning then afternoon through to evening

We also have a veg patch, carrots, red onions, fennels (and a couple of raspberries at the end as an experiment from Poundland!) everything seems to be growing fine, apart from just one row of onions, very puzzling, any ideas?

Plus, when we were building it and forking soil in, there were daffodils in that my bf just covered up instead of taking out...Anything I should worry about apart from the obvious someone being poisoned by a daffodil bulb (which would serve them right for trying to nick our veg )

Thank you!
