Default Riccinus question.

Hi, I grew a couple of Riccinus communis from seed after seeing them
the previous year in a display at Spalding. The ones in the display had
turned a vivid autumn red colour, and, looking at jpeg images on the
internet a lot of them too are red leaved. Am I missing something
obvious. Mike.
