Default plant identification -hibiscus??

Hi i have a small tree/ shrub in my garden which i believe may be a type of hibiscus. It's a late flowering type whatever it is. I'll link to some pics of the seed pods and the tree. it's about 5ft round. I just want to know what i shoudl do about the old seed heads, as they are still on the branches??
