Default Hedge bottom plants for brids & insects

Hi there,

I'd like to plant up the bottom of my hedge with some easy care plants that are good for birds & insects. Ideally including some all year round plants or a mix of summer and winter plants. The hedge is sheltered from wind and receives lots of sun.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
John
