Default Tulips & mice?

Something eats my tulip bulbs (at least in one partic. garden spot). My
guess is: mice. I've read (ha!) that planting a mothball down the hole with
the bulb, will deter the mouse. But -- will it kill the bulb? Pinetree ).

Squirrels? I know someone who planted bulbs and the squirrels pulled
most of them out. They also ripped out all the plant labels too which
displeased her greatly.

I reckon putting some dried chilies in with the bulbs might do the
trick though.

Anything is worth a try, so I'll get some chillies. Wot works on squirrels,
should work on mice... I'll experiment and do a hole of mothball and hole of
chilli ) Thanks - Pinetree
