Default Big Bud

Hello all,

We have a new allotment and it has several currant bushes which have
been neglected for some years. Half of them are badly effected by big
bud. I presume these are black currants and the unaffected ones red
currants. How should I deal with the big bud? Would I be better
digging out the effected bushes and starting again somewhere else on the
allotment, or can the mite be destroyed by pruning off the effected
branches (not much bush would be left if I did that)?

Thanks for any advice.

All the best,

Chris Potts
