Default Paler Leaves?

I have been given a Euonymus (i think thats how you spell it) plant by a friend. When i was given it, the leaves were all deep green. it has since grown quite a lot, but the newer leaves are very pale in comparison. is this due to a lack of sunlight? its not in direct light, but its certainly not in the dark either. is this natural?

also, should new forming buds be clipped off a plant that is in poor condition but reviving? will it give it more energy to focus on growth rather than blooming, and if so is this adviseable?

thanks to all who read and whoever can reply
