Livestock farming gobbles up agricultural land, water and energy that could far more efficiently be devoted to growing food for people to eat directly. This "efficiency" argument is bullshit, and has been refuted long ago. People don't eat undifferentiated calories; they eat particular foods they like. The *correct* measure of efficiency is how much of a given kind of food can be produced for a given amount of inputs. |
