Mary Fisher says... "David in Normandy" wrote in message ... Charlie Pridham says... Is it possible to copy the emails in folders for transfer to another computer like you can with the address book? (win 98) Yes, but you need to be more specific about what email software you use? If you use Outlook Express it is easy and will explain if that is what you use? I'd like to know ... please Mary OK. First thing to do is create a "dummy" mail folder on the computer you want to transfer the folder to. To do this, run Outlook Express on the TARGET pc, then Click File New Folder Give it the name that you want the new folder to be called e.g. "Archive" (it can always be renamed later if needed). Then go into your inbox and COPY any email from there to your new folder. This step is important because it forces OE to create a new file for your new folder. Now close the OE program. This is important too. Next, run OE on the other PC. You need to know where it stores its email files/folders. So click: Tools Options Maintenance (tab) Store Folder By default the folder is in a ridiculous long path including an identity. Much easier to right-click on the folder in OE and select "Properties". It will tell you where the folder is. -- Jeff (cut "thetape" to reply) |
