Hormone dammage to plants
It sounds to me as if there are problems with manure containing
contaminated straw. In the 60's we had quite a lot of dammage in the form of distorted growth on certain species of plants including Tomatoes. This was caused by a residue of the selective herbicide used on the cerial crop that the straw came from. It sounds as if this is again rearing its head. If you have plants showing signs I would be tempted to phone Defra on 08459 33 55 77, they may be interested, on the other hand ..................................... David Hill Abacus Nurseries |

David Hill Abacus Nurseries There was an article in Sunday's Observer about it. The herbicide is aminopyralid and Dow Agrosciences advise against consuming affected produce. Dow also sold the herbicide to farmers with the recommendation that where animals have been fed on silage from treated fields, their manure should not be sold to gardeners. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environmen...od.agriculture |
