Pretty little beggars, aren't they?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content..._feature.shtml They don't seem to do much harm to my Lilies here in Sarf Wales. I usually just flick 'em off with a fingernail and they don't often seem to find their way back. -- ®óñ© © ²°¹°-°¹ |

I usually tap them on the head with my size 11s. :-) However it's the larvae that do the most damage and they can be easy to miss. They cover themselves with their own excreta and look like bird poo but usually under the leaves. Look for leaves looking damaged and pull off (nasty job!) or spray, a few on one plant will eat it completely in a few days. -- Regards Bob Hobden just W. of London |

Destroy them - and also the pupae which are disgusting little faeces-covered grubs on the stems. -- beccabunga Also check on Fritillarias, as these are a tasty treat, too. :~( Spider |

Destroy them - and also the pupae which are disgusting little faeces-covered grubs on the stems. Too true. An old cottage garden near where I live used to have a beautiful stand of Madonna lilies every year - until the advent of the dreaded red scourge in recent years. The lilies all died out before the owner realised what was doing the damage. -- Sue |

My wife goes crazy when she spots one .... this is an entertaining annual event stemming from a time when she adopted your attitude and ended up with her much loved lilies reduced to tatters.
