Default Disguising fading Oriental Poppy foliage

Could anyone offer some ideas of what to plant just
in front of an
Oriental Poppy so it will grow up and take over later
on while the poppy
foliage dies down?

After the plant has stopped flowering, I cut all the
stems to within 2 inches of the ground. This will
produce a low fresh growth of leaves in Autumn. I add a
couple of inches of mulch, under the new leaves.
Here's a handy link:-
