Blackbirds and newts
This morning a blackbird took a newt from our pond, which he dropped when we frightened him off.
Was this a one-off? Or are blackbirds regular predators of newts. Do we need to net the pond?

OK, I've found the answer. Yes, blackbirds are a known predator of newts, including adults.
