Well what a day of weather, this morning we had a bit of sunshine,
then strong winds gusting to 50mph + then some rain, then back to more
sunshine, now we have some very wet snow with flakes of over an inch,
settled on the glass but not on the ground.
What next?

I had to go to the Theatre first thing this morning. As i parked in the car
ark the skies opened. :-((

When I left at 1.00pm the sun was shining.

Further up the Swansea Valley - Cray for example had covering of snow today

At the other end of the Bay, dull, wet, windy with a small dose of
hail early this afternoon but with the odd sunny spell in between. Not
too cold and certainly no snow. But was speaking to someone about 5
miles east of me as the crow flies around 5ish this evening and they
had just had a short but extremely heavy hailstorm - their garden was
white and the drive was like a sheet of ice. The missus had left her
car on the road as the very sloping drive was too slippery to drive
up.

Surprising what difference a few miles can make.

I was thinking this evening that it felt like the temperature had dipped,
and wondered if maybe a 2nd attempt at snow was far behind

Not very having watched it over several winters, or at least the map
that covers just Northen England and Scotland. It'll give a guide but
snow is fickle stuff and very altitude dependant.

This afternoon coming home from Carlisle it was variously rain and
sleet but nothing settling. Coming up out of town it turned to snow
and started settling within 10m of vertical accent. At home, 300'
higher, it was moderate snow and building up fast but it didn't last
long perhaps an hour and we hardly had more than an inch.

Yes, anecdotally, I'd agree. here in Bakewell we're surrounded by all
manner of microclimates, making it tricky to decide whether to venture out.
