what trees might grow in windswept garden, NW Scotland?
"Harry Davis" wrote in message ... What trees or even largish bushes might I be able to grow in a treeless windswept garden a mile from the Atlantic coast on the Isle of Lewis in NW Scotland? There's maybe 30cm of topsoil on top of peat, and the surrounding terrain is all moorland with no trees, mostly heather, and the occasional gorsebush. Thanks! Harry Monteray Pines have a good reputation for coping in such places -- Charlie, Gardening in Cornwall Holders of National Collections of Clematis viticella and Lapageria rosea cvs http://www.roselandhouse.co.uk |
