fruit trees wet ground

I have a bit of space where I would like to plant a few mixed fruit trees. The space is gently sloping. It is at the top of a steeper slope. Unfortunately it is fairly wet, the result of living in the Manchester/Peak District area.
Am I being realistic? Can anyone advise which trees would thrive. I am interested more in the fruit than looks.
