Mighty Mac shredder clogging

I have a mighty Mac petrol shredder, though it is quite efficient it
keeps clogging, and clearing it is a PITA. Any ideas as to how I can
avoid this or is it endemic to this machine? It even clogs when simply
clearing leaves, never mind twigs, I have a lot of hedging so I would
love it to gobble them up. I found the electric Bosch clogged much less,
but too slow for all my needs.
