Default Compost?

Avoid local authority free compost. We have patches of celandines
growing where we used free compost in the garden.

A very under rated garden flower.
Celandines can really light up a garden in early spring in the right place

Went for a guided tour of Limnerslease the house of G F Watts, the Victorian
painter and artist, at Compton, Surrey today and the verges were lit up with
celandines, looked lovely. Used to have a clump in our front garden for
years but it's not there now, it never spread or invaded anywhere else.

Problem is keeping them in the right place. I made the mistake of introducing them, because I always loved them as a child, and they are now smothering everything.
