Default which Ilex reanata

Having recommended that a freind plants Ilex crenata rather than box
round their design layout for their front garden (two squares and a sort
of hexagonal middle) I now find that there's several speices!!

convexa, compacta and probably more .

Anyone give advice please on which to choose.
Will be for slightly alkaline soil in Chalfont St Peter so south bucks
area, garden not really exposed, they aren't gardeners but want to plant
a tree or tall shrub in middle of designs.
