I think I saw on the 3-day weather forecast that temperatures this
coming Friday night will drop to single figures. That must be pretty
unusual for August.

Yikes! I'd have thought so.

Just checked - down to 9.8°C here last night. Isn't it supposed to get
colder for the next few days, too?

I haven't checked for our area but I will! However, this morning is
overcast and so quite mild. I woke at 4am and went downstairs to charge
up the grandson's iPad - words I never foresaw myself writing when his
mother was born!! It was still not as cold as a few early mornings
we've had recently.

Good afternoon.

There's a smell of autumn in the air.

The rainy and sunny periods are getting longer. I tried to make the most
of todays sun to get out a maximum of potatos and let them dry on the
bed. The number of rotten bulbs increases each day and I still have some
5x5 meters to do. Shortly after noon, the clouds came and a light
drizzle set in. That chased me from the garden, but it did not last long
and now we have again a “bavarian” sky, blue-white with nicely formed
alto-cumuli.

This can be quite unnerving.

17°C in the shade. And returning from the thermometer I notice that
these alto-cumuli are getting heavier and darker again...

It's 23C here ATM.

It was 22C at Bridgwater this afternoon. And the M5 was choked with
traffic in both directions. Horrible!
