What is the difference between a US and UK micro usb?

U/S. Unserviceable.

Oops

Another thought - there is an app called 'Files' that allows you to share
via bluetooth, onedrive, whatsapp, etc. Not sure if any of the native
stuff on the phone allows this - or indeed whether any of it is accessible
on the phone. If it is actually dead, I suspect even a usb wouldn't do
much.

Finally (I think) some phones actually use something like a micro usb card
internally for storage. Don't know if the Lumias do or not. And if it
does, I'm not sure how easy it would be to access the content if you get
it out of the phone. Other than that, one of the specialist data
retrieval companies might be able to help, at a price - depends on what
the damage is and how important the data is.

Sorry about the US. I forget sometimes not everyone uses it!

By the time I got involved the phone was dead, it had apparently not been
charging for sometime and the Lumia 800 has a reputation of being
temperamental if allowed to have a completely flat battery. Why my daughter
didn't back the data up I have no idea. But Blue tooth and wireless are both
ruled out as it wont turn on.

Anyway on examination I can see the actual USB connection is damaged, so yes
it could be repaired but quotes are for more than the phone cost and anyway
she doesn't want anything more to do with Nokia.

I was surprised when I couldn't find a removable memory card but its
apparently built in (stupid idea really) I just wondered if the memory store
is removable if one dismantles the phone, but I guess its not something most
people would ever do!

Its Photos that she wants back.
