Default Onions

Many of the Sturon sets I planted last spring have hardly grown at all -
I have lots of golf-ball sized onions. It is possible to leave these in
the ground over winter, or should I lift and dry them and use them as
sets next spring? Or should I just use them for eating over the next few
months?
