Default Lavender cuttings for smell

Ok...I love the lavender smell.....B-)

After I prune back the plant (As suggested in the post) How do I store the
stems to keep the smell?

Cut back the leaves to leave just the flowers and stem?

Do I have to hang it upside down somewhere cool and dry?
