Default Rose sticks

I am getting married in the middle of October, and would like all the guests to take away a rose as a 'wedding favour'. (I mean a real shrub, not just a flower).

I remember receiving some sticks a long time ago which I just stuck into the garden and they grew into fabulous plants, but I can't remember what time of year it was or where they came from.

Are these available for October and does anyone know any good burgendy red varieties?

Thanks.
