Default Lawn Mower Problems

Hi

My petrol lawnmower starts almost first time but it only runs for
between 30 and 40 seconds before it conks out, it won't restart
immediately but after a few minutes it will start and run for 40 about
seconds again.

It started doing this at the last cut of autumn, (hence its not an
stale fuel problem). I added a little redex to the fuel but it made no
difference.

Just tried it out now and its still suffering the same problem.

Any ideas, the engine is a Honda GCV 135E.

TIA

Paul

Fuel line/filter clogged?

Possibly, but more likely to be a blocked vent in the filler cap.

Sounds reasonable, now I have got to find out how to unclog it, i'll
think I will have to take it to bits and try and figure out how it
works.

Thanks

I tried that, running without the filler cap makes no difference.

The link
http://routbort.neuro.duke.edu/repai...R/F_lmfaq.html will be
useful, in a general sort of way.

I haven't checked it in a while, so if it's broken, google for :
"Sci.Electronics.Repair FAQ: Notes on the Troubleshooting and Repair of
Small Gasoline Engines and Rotary Lawn Mowers", which will tell you
more, particularly how to clean the jets in the carburetor (which would
be my second guess as to the cause -- "crud in there somewhere").

Thanks Thomas, I will google for the suggested FAQ.

That'll be why the fuel line or filter is clogged, then.
