If you haven't already seen this article on cross contamination of crops by
GM DNA take a look at :-

http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99994709

Is this a scare story or is it a report after good science?

New Scientist is a reputable science magazine and doesn't
wittingly print scare stories. Read the letters page of the
next edition to discover what peers think of the story.
NS are not slow to print criticism of earlier articles.

Pharm crops are certainly being grown but these should not be
food species. That does not mean that food plants are not being
contaminated, however. Neither does it mean that contaminant gene
sequences cause harm. The problem is that we just don't know and
not enough is being done to monitor and control the situation.

the biggest corporation in GM is Monsanto. They are the same company
that developed Agent Orange - then they wonder why we don't trust GM
!!!

If you use that argument there are few products made by large US and
German companies that you will use.

The story was on Reuters too. It's a serious report.

This is happening in the US but could happen here soon. Authorisations
for GM crop planting in EU are being awarded while there are still no
rules on 'coexistence' - or how to protect conventional /organic crops
from GMO contamination. It's a serious matter - the US is pressurising
the EU to accept GMOs under WTO rules (ie, in interests of commercial
producers) before there's proper understanding of the risks. And new
labelling/traceability rules that come into effect in April don't
cover meat products, as only the animal feed itself must be labelled.

And did you know that the judge that refused to order a recount in the
GW Bush presidential election was Monsanto's lawyer?
