Wheelbarrow wheel?
Take the wheel/tyre to one of the tyre & exhaust garages, I have seen other
people do this with small tyres such as for trailers etc I am sure they will be willing to kelp, give one a try. -- Thanks Keith,UK. "Rosie" wrote in message ... I had one with an inflatable tyre, and was always patching it - even hawthorn spines went through it. My dad took the wheel to one of the tyre places and they put a proper tyre on it, and I've never had any more problems with it. John -- John Rouse |

ROSIE On my way to and from a Reunion in Scarborough the other weekend, I noticed on the motorways, that the posts for the central barriers are held in he ground with an expanded foam. Makes them easier to get out for repairs I expect. My thought is, could a wheelbarrow wheel, be filled with this foam? No more punctures :-)) If it is the same stuff used in lifeboats and other craft for both buoyancy and noise deadening, it sets very firm, but can be worked with a knife or saw. Just a thought :-)) Mike -- H.M.S.Newfoundland Association Reunion Hayling Island April 23rd - 26th Royal Naval Reunion Eastbourne May 7th - 10th H.M.S.Collingwood Association Reunion Bracklesham Bay May 21st - 24th Nat.Service (RAF) Assoc. Just a thought :-)) Two problems, really: getting the foam into the tire, especially if you want it evenly distributed (and you do); and as with all foams, the cell walls break down under repeated loading, so it would go limp and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it. There were "solid" foam tires for children's bikes at one stage, and the ones we had worked fine when new, but the tires eventually started breaking up from the outside (I did the same thing to a shoe once, stamping on small firewood instead of using the tomahawk -- der! -- I should have realised that the lightweight cushiony sole must be some kind of foam). A few weeks ago I finally dumped an old barrow whose wheel had rusted through. Blow me, but of course the next week when I visited the dump again, there was a perfectly good barrow wheel in one of the skips! Mike. |

I would suggest the simplest remedy is to go to your nearest motor accessory shop and buy a can of flatmate or whatever other brand they have. This is a foam filled aerosol can which inflates the tyre and seals the leak in one operation. With a small wheel like a barrow a can should do at least two. Steve |
