Default Cumin - growing and harvesting?

Hi all,

I've grown some cumin this year from seed. I've ended up with some wispy 4
inch high things that have little flower heads and a swollen area behind
the flower.

Problem is the plants now seem to be dying. I've kept them in the
conservatory although the seed packet said the could be planted outside.

what should the plants look like? What is the best wayy to gorw them, and
how and when do I crop them?

TIA,

Sarah
