Husband installing drip system to water tubs of ornamentals. This is fine: I
can insert slow release feed into those but will a slow release feed work
for tomatoes too? Or should I leave a can or two of tomato feed with the
willing-to -water-neighbours?

I am not expert but I consider feed once a week is sufficient. So water will
be okay for the other 6 days depending on the temperature
Suggest you also update your AVG From 422 to 466 dated 23/6/2004 or later,
