Default Hosta leaf problem

We have 4 large containers of variegated hostas which have been very
spectacular this year, however, in the last couple of weeks leaves have
started to develop large brown patches which rot away, leaving holes.
Grateful for any advice. I have posted a picture (Hosta leaf problem)
on alt.binaries.pictures.gardens which may help identify the cause.
