Default aeonium schwarzkopf

Hi,

I have an aeonium schwarzkopf which was dark purple at the beginning of the
year having over wintered in a small green house. Despite trying it in all
types of locations it has become progressively green over the summer. It is
planted in a small pot in sand enriched soil. Any input would be welcome.

To stay a good colour it needs full sun conditions which has been a bit in
short supply this summer!

Hi,

The factors that seem to influence the depth of purple colouring in my
experience, are the amount of water and light that they receive .

In full sun with "little" water, they give the darkest colour. Too well
watered, and they start to turn green.
However, this can be a very helpful indicator, and I remember it being
mentioned on Gardener's World by Mike Nelhams of Tresco Abbey Gardens.

In winter though, mine always turn green'ish, due to low levels of daylight
even thought they are kept in a frost free greenhouse.
