Incidently, when you write your gardening encyclopedia and become rich and famous, I hope you never forget us urglers. Regards ...... Paul i dont plan on any books,no time or inclination to so do. I am just having a blitz on my miserable garden. I am clearing a section at the end of the garden which was all clumps of grass and uneven. 10Mx10M area The plan is to level it off and plant wild flowers and annuals and perrenials. Now i have a large pile of clumps and bits of ivy , my plan is to cover the lot with black polythene and let it rot down. Then i can use it for compost i guess. The 'flowerbeds' are devoid of topsoil as the previous owner of my property was a fool ,he used to dig up the clumps of grass and chuck them at the end of the garden ,so moving all the soil as he did this. After a few years of doing this all the soil was moved ! He never figured out that by planting something he wouldnt have to worry about rough grass. What few plants i have are in the wrong positions (no light) etc and have to be moved, and low light areas replanted with others. So i have a pretty big job on my hands, lots of soil to be relocated. 50 wheelbarrow loads i estimate.. And i need to plant some fast growers from seed etc before the grass takes over again. any ideas ??? I have a selection of books from the library and i have bought the 3 small RHS books but theres always a piece of info missing. hence my query. |
