Anyone ever heard of tomatoes, or soil in which tomatoes have been
grown, being poisonous to (some) trees? (Heard today from a work
colleague who remembered it as something her father used to say - my
initial reaction was that it couldn't possibly be true.......)

That's a new one to me. It could possibly be based on the fact that soil
in which tomatoes have been grown can carry spores of tomato blight,
though trees are not normally vulnerable to that particular disease.
