Rate of soil growth (deposition)
i came across this thread elsewhere and was curious to hear what the
opinions are for how much soil grows over time..naturally... in the UK not USA.. ************************************************** ********************************** Do any of you geology, biology or environmental nuts out there have a ballpark figuir on how much soil is created from rotting vegetation and critters over 10 or 20 years? I UNDERSTAND that this would vary greatly depending on the type of area (hardwoods vs pine forests, woodland vs prarie or open field, etc) I'm just asking if anybody knows a a general rule for the approximate amount of years that are represented by one inch of soil in North America.
