help on Agave
have just been given an Agave
it is very large with a long stem on it. I would like to put it in a pot but worried about it being top heavy. my question is can I cut the stem or trunk back to make it shorter. At the moment the stem is about 20 inches long before the foliage begins. there are several small new plants growing on the stem down towards the bottom hopefully I can remove them and plant them in smaller pots. The plant was dug out from a very large section of them in a garden of a friend of mine as it is spreading over a large area now. I am in Melbourne any comments appreciated |

help on Agave
Agave can be put in pots we have a number of them. We have one that was a
bit heavy but put a brick in front so it rests on the brick. Remember water only when dry you can spray them with a water bottle and also spray water in the centre shot. Just some potting mix will be fine we found that they tend to do better in the shade (confusing as they are a cactus) but being in perth at the moments its really hot and they havent taken to well to the new heat. hope it works for you agave lover "ÑödD¥" wrote in message ... have just been given an Agave it is very large with a long stem on it.
