coastal roses
Hi all,
would anyone out there know of any 'very' hardy roses for a coastal position which recieves alot of wind and salt. I really love the David Austin varieties. Thanks heaps if anyone can help!! Paula from W.A |

Paula from W.A I have tried a couple of times, with varieties a specialist nursey recommended for those conditons, but no luck. I think the rugosa kinds are supposed to be the hardiest. It would help to grow them behind a windbreak. Another thing I read (which I didn't do) was to hose the salt off the leaves every evening (which will probably lead to problems with black spot). Thanks heaps if anyone can help!! Paula from W.A If you want some *REALLY* good roses, move to Adelaide. ;-) If you really want to stay in Perth, David Austin roses would be the best choice. They seem to me to be a lot hardier than common bush roses. |
