Default Chinese elm wintering

I bought a chinese Elm at the begining of spring, heres how it looked when i
first got it

Then, towards the end of summer, all the large leaves started dropping off
and it seemed to start frantically growing tiny buds of new leaves. These
would grow for a while then drop off

I was a bit worried about it, so i did some searching online and it looked
like my Elm was trying to go dormant, but the late summer heat and sun were
still making it attempt new growth. A few people had similar problems to
this, and the answer seemed to be to put it somewhere quite dark and cool to
let it naturaly go dormant. I did it, and all seemed to be going ok. But...
suddenly in the last few days it has started sprouting lots of new growth,
both leaves and young branches, as if its coming out of dormancy. This is it
as of about 10 mins ago

I really dont want it to wake up as autumn is weel under way and winter is
coming. Is there anything i can do? Put it somewhere even darker and cooler?
Any help appreciated
dan
