Default [IBC] Seiju Elm

Seiju is only slightly less forgiving than Hokkaido
elm. You can make a cutting from the branch you
remove. If you want even sized branches in the
"right" locations, you can cut off all the branches
and start over. This elm will sprout all over the
trunk and you will have a multitude of tiny branches
to develop.

These tiny branches on a large trunked tree, give the
feeling of greater age. Best wait until the tree is
dormant to cut off brances.

I have a Seiju that is several years old and doing
fine. However, the second
branch up on the right is too thick, especially near
the base. If I just cut it
off, it will leave too big a gap. If I cut it off
and leave the branch collar,
will it grow a new, thinner branch in due course, or
will it be too thin
compared to the branches above it? The rest of the
branches are about right.
