I don't know about the pumpkin, but there was frost on
the car window the other morning here on the San
Francisco Bay Peninsula.

Default [IBC] Here comes the COLD

We too are expecting cold weather tonight and "lake effect" snow too!
Temperatures are supposed to drop to about 25F. and snow too.

I personally, do not like cold, nor snow, but am anxiously awaiting the
first "hard frost". It is important for winter-hardy bonsai to get at
least one hard frost (and also snow to clean the needle foliage) before
putting away for winter. It is not good for bonsai to be put away
BEFORE they are acclimated to the cold temperatures. Many exposures to
temperatures in the 30F. range is good, but some colder weather really
prepares them for the long hard winters.

I must also remember to tip the large water basins which contain
miniature water lilies, so they do not crack tonight... speaking from
first-hand experience and now the owner of several large cracked water
basins.
