Jaboticaba issues...
Hi -
I have a Jaboticaba bonsai indoors live (we live in Massachusetts). It is in a bright sunroom, humidity kept above 50%, with supplemental HPS lighting. Temps run between 59 and 80 degrees. Typically, I find myself watering it about once or twice a week as it does not appear to need more. I feed it about once every two weeks with Peters or Pokon. It was repotted last summer. The problem is that many of the leaves are dropping off. The older leaves seem to brown at the tips, then drop, which may be just a seasonal thing. But now, even the new shoots are dropping their leaves before they mature. The tree is just not pushing a lot of vigorous growth at this time. I do not see any pests on the tree, and I am now unsure whether or not I am overwatering, underwatering, or what? Any insight into what has become a somewhat enigmatic variety for me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tom Termine |

It should be outdoors all summer. It was repotted last summer. In what? The problem is that many of the leaves are dropping off. The older leaves seem to brown at the tips, then drop, That usually indicates poor drainage, excess salts, or some other problem at the roots.
