That’s fine, Ian, except I presume you want to control temperature
inside a space (like your greenhouse) and don’t want to leave the door
ajar for running a cord from outside. That would seem to defeat the
purpose of this device.

I did not see that. As far as I know, it is based on the temperature where it
is plugged in. I think for the most accuracy, you could use an extension cord,
as long as it is heavy enough for the heater.
