Default brown edges on azalea flowers.....why?

It is midsummer here where I live, and my azalea is going through its second
flowering event this spring/summer. It has beautiful pink and white
flowers. But, when they open (before they are fully open) the edges of the
flowers are turning brown and ruining the image. What could be causing
this?

I have two ideas..

- the sun may be too harsh

or, the may have rotted because the flowers buds as they were breaking
collected too much moisture and rotted (we've had a lot of rain recently)

I think the sun may be the answer though It's just an educated guess....

Can someone please offer me some advice please?

Thanks

Tony Charles
